2021 Annual Conference and Coronavirus

Due to the current global pandemic and to protect our members the Executive Committee has been, with the assistance of the Research Sub Committee, considering the possibility of a Virtual Annual Conference in 2021.  The Society has not made a definite decision but is considering all options and has approached a number of companies that provide video conferencing services.

We welcome the approval of the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine and the mass vaccine programme now underway.  Though the vaccine is a major step towards a return to life as it was before the pandemic, Government Ministers have warned it could be Easter by the time restrictions are lifted in a significant way.

The Executive Committee continues to assess the situation and will keep members informed over the coming months. In the meantime, we kindly advise conference delegates not to make any preparations for the 2021 Annual Conference in Galway.

We hope and pray all of our members, their families and communities, are well and we look forward to gathering together whenever it can be possible.

Under the protection of St Pius X and St Raymond of Peñafort,

Yours sincerely,

Fr James O'Kane, General Secretary, 10 October 2020
